thank you both i have learned allot from all of this. After many hours and attempts, I have managed to mount my SuperTalent External HD using the DUSE 4.9 driver found on this excellent site. QEMU QEMU is a generic and open source processor emulator which achieves a good emulation speed by using dynamic translation. Note that the Iomega drivers will work with any USB external hard disk and are not proprietary to Iomega drives (mine is a Western Digital).

Here is the driver I am using. "USBASPI.SYS" ("Panasonic v2.06 ASPI Manager for USB mass storage"). So you might say, DOS came and went fast for me, I just really never had the opportunity to fool around with it. Then I looked in it and noticed there are  usbaspi.sys and 2 usbcd.sys files.
It's well worth the effort! Autoexec.bat and Config.sys can be much improved, but this is the bare bones of the boot disk. Usually, updates will be initiated from something in the Forum . This was the most prestigious commercial screen saver in DOS days. Dos Drivers Should work with most ATAPI drives.
Unfortunately, the workaround may involve spending some money. All external host USB controller cards available today use companion host controllers (EHCI + UHCI, or EHCI + OHCI), though that could certainly change in the future. The ALL file contains the latest versions of all the programs, and will only take a few minutes (at the most) to download. I need to set up the drivers for the USB flash drive and the CD ROM.
